Forget the phone call, forget the fall, forget John alone at Baker Street.

This is what broke me.

This change in demeanour, the nod of “get yourself into check, soldier on” and the military turn, is John: destroyed.

This is whitewashed John, boring John, bored John…John Before Sherlock.

Except now it’s John After Sherlock, and he knows exactly what (who) he is missing.

FKN THIS.

FUCK EVERYTHING

You might disagree with the categories as the most representative of Dickens, e.g. “ludicrous spinster,” but this is a pretty terrific image. I think Bleakhouse won by the fact that there are just *so many* characters that it couldn’t help but have the most representatives. Though it is my favourite Dickens novel—it’s delicious. Is it bad that the “devious lawyers” are often my favourite characters?

are you single??

Nope, a beautiful girl scooped me up round about christmas time. I’m afraid this acquired taste is of the shelf.
